UFO: Afterlight, Steam, and a problem.

Hello,

Massive problem. My first experience on Steam is a horrible one. Got the game, dl'd and backed up. Ready to play: and the video resolution is all messed up. Is there a way to modify the video settings of the game without starting it? I can modify the settings within game, but due to the resolution I can't hit the "accept" button, or anything, just adjust. 
If I could run this in a window, then I could alter the video settings. Please advise? What's the .exe flag to run in a window? -w? I don't know... Someone please help and convince me that Steam isn't a big..

Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
